Our Team

The Sycamore Build Group (SBG) works with local licensed specialty contractors that are experts in their craft. Working with master carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and experienced stonemasons. All our jobs we take pride in supporting our local economy by working with local specialists in tile, stone, siding, and Sherwin-Williams paint stores. We strive to support small local businesses whenever possible with all our projects.

Our belief in sustainability comes from years of experience in the construction field. The Sycamore Build Group cuts down on waste as often as possible by recycling the bulk of trash from projects. SBG purchases from local businesses, using as many locally sourced or reclaimed materials in projects. Our goal is to build a completed home project that will stand the test of time, create sustainability, and be eco-conscious.

Christian Wells is a fifth-generation carpenter. He learned the skills of his trade through the 15 years working alongside his father, grandfather, and many other family members in various trades. Christian is not only a master carpenter, but he is a licensed home inspector, licensed solar installer, Andersen Windows installer, and EPA lead certified.

Sought after Master Carpenter and Artisan, Christian Wells started a Construction/Home Improvement company serving the “D.C.” Metro area. Referred by others as a renaissance man and polymath, Christian’s expertise far exceeds the five generations of the carpentry trade passed down to him through his father (who owns a construction company on Long Island now for over 40 years) and grandfather. Christian’s Scandinavian lineage was confirmed by DNA tests and “Vikings” were well known for their expert woodworking and carpentry.

For Christian, it all started with Duplos. Homemade toys from his father and grand-fathers. Then it went from Legos, k’nex, Lincoln logs, erector sets, and then to helping his father in the workshop and on job sites as young as he could remember. One of his earliest memories is the framing of a new home in the Hamptons, NY and the fresh cut smell of the new framing, a smell he still loves. The last major project he worked on with his father and brother was the building of his father’s beach house >on the eastern shore of VA.

They all built this home from the ground up with a couple helpers for things like framing and sheetrock. Taking two years traveling back and forth to the beach house working for a few weeks at a time and then going back home for a few weeks. Christian, by himself, built the kitchen cabinets and cabinet doors from scratch in his cousin’s shop out of poplar and then it was shipped down and installed with granite countertops.

When Christian launched SBG. he sought out the best team of craftsmen to join his company, with at least 10 years of experience. Christian learned from his father and apprenticed for over 15 years. SBG was incorporated in Maryland where Christian decided to settle down and start a family. Leaving his father’s construction business in NY, Christian strove to build a company always doing the correct and proper work and offering clients a wider range of options. We continue to keep up with fast-changing building techniques. It’s important to us that our clients know all their options, understand the techniques as well as choices they have, and the reasons behind them.

They say, “finding something you love doing means you’ll never have to work a day.” This accurately describes Christian and his company, SBG. It’s all about doing the work properly the first time and seeing how satisfied our clients are with the finished product.

Our company’s transparent approach and technical ability set us apart from other companies in the area. It’s crucial that SBG’s clients know and approve of not only their projects but the way in which they are done and why. Our work is therefore, not just warrantied but meets a high standard set and approved by our customers.
